From Boredom to Excitement: Cooking Made Fun

Nanda Garbuja is a permanent resident of Chimkhola village. Chimkhola Village, Myagdi District, Ward No. 7 yes. There are 360 households like Nanda (Census 068).
Nand has a family of three at home. My husband, Apum, and a three-year-old daughter. It has been a year since her husband went abroad for employment. Before this, he had gone for employment 2÷3 times.
Nand’s domestic occupation is agriculture. The grain obtained from this profession can be eaten for 6 months. For the rest of the months, Nanda works as a wage labourer.

Nanda is also a member of the Health Mother Group. He is also a member of The Himalayan Women’s Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Limited in Chimkhola village. There is a rule that everyone in the cooperative will save Rs. 100÷ per month.Until a year ago, his house looked like abyab. He used to cook food in traditional stoves. There was no fixed place to wash the utensils. Since it could be washed anywhere, the fire was not like a fire. It was customary to throw waste water in the fire so that it would dissolve the fire. There was a toilet, but there was no cleaning material. The water had to be taken from outside. Soap was removed only when washing clothes. Drinking water was eaten even if it was seen in it. The practice of washing cooked utensils was also going on for 2÷4 days, but after 2÷4 days, it seemed to be safe. It was customary to throw garbage out of the house. Others also said that it would be difficult to remove garbage in the pit. At that time, Nanda’s house was also not clean.

Last year, a meeting of our health mother’s group was held in the month of Chaitra. Discussions were held on drinking water, sanitation and sanitation by the employees of Suahara. The discussion was going on by showing them on large papers with different pictures. There was also talk about dirty houses. I have started sitting with my friend to see if my name will come. How bitter the mind still feels when that happens. I feel ashamed of myself today.
In the meeting, all the friends shared an action plan for cleaning the house. Even though I sat in the back, I had planned to make my house worth living. First of all, I improved. The husband also easily agreed to spend on improving the toilet. There is a lot to it. Even though I am my own now, I feel better than others. I don’t empty water, brushes, harpig slippers in the toilet. If you do not wash your hands with soap and water after prayag of the toilet, then how will you fall? There is soap and water to wash hands. The daughter tries to play soap. I’ve taught him how to tune, too. Discussions were held in the meeting of Chaitra to keep the improved iron stove. The stove was finally brought in the first week of December. I was in a hurry to eat the food cooked in it. In the same week, I also kept the stove. After placing the stove, I found that the room of my house had changed, it seemed that my house was not even there. In the past, when cooking food, the smoke used to burn, cough, how hard it was to breathe. When I remembered this, I was struggling to cook.  । Now after putting a new stove, let’s cook it.
